Formerly known as Industrial Foreign Trade, founded in 1986, it was one of the earliest universities in Zhejiang Province to recruit undergraduate students in Industrial Foreign Trade. This specialty was authorized to grant a master's degree in 2006, and in the same year, it became a key construction specialty of the university.In 2009, it became the key construction specialty of Zhejiang Province during the 11th Five-Year Plan.In 2014, itrecruited international students for the first time globally (undergraduate), and became the first batch of the university’s internationalized specialty at the same year. In 2016, it recruited international students for the first time globally (graduate). It was authorized to grant the MIB (Master of International Business) degree. The major of International Economics and Trade offers three specialty direction including international trade theory and policy, international financial investment and transnational management, and cross-border e-commerce. As HDU’s key construction internationalized specialty, the proportion of bilingual and all-English teaching courses in this major has reached over 50%. It is also the first major of our university to carry out international student education and international teaching exchanges.
The international economics and trade major has a fully reinforcedand reasonably structured teaching team. There are 21 full-time academic staff, including 5 professors, 5 associate professors and 11 lecturers; 18 teachers have doctorate.
Among them, one graduated from Sydney University with PhD, 6 teachers have visited or studied at universities such as the University of California, Los Angeles and Riverside, the University of Mississippi, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Boston;20 teachers graduated from domestic985 Project universities such as Peking University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
There is 1 provincial professor of Qianjiang Scholar, 1 New Century Talent, 1 member of The 151 Talent Project of Zhejiang Province, 1 Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders of Zhejiang Province, 3 selected into the Outstanding Young College Lecturers Funding Program of Zhejiang Province, and 3 winners of Zhejiang Province Teaching Achievement Award in the teaching team.
Students majoring in international economics and trade are mainly engaged in business operations, strategic management and consulting research in trading enterprises, manufacturing enterprises, foreign-invest enterprises, financial institutions, international service trade industries and government departments. And they are capable of engaging in international business, capital market operation and cross-border e-commerce both in private or family enterprise.
